Katonah Village Library is celebrating
National Poetry Month with some great programs. On Sunday, April 1st, at 4 p.m., the Katonah Poetry Series, under the direction of Billy Collins, former Poet Laureate, will host poet Brenda Hillman in readings from her works. Several of Ms. Hillman's collections have been published and she has received several awards for her beautiful and distinctive writing. Her most recent collections are Cascadia & Pieces of Air in the Epic. Look forward to a wonderful time meeting Brenda Hillman and hear her read from her works. On April 9th at 7 p.m., Karen Rippstein, a member of Poetry Caravan, will lead the Poetry Workshop. This is a workshop for adults and young adults. Ms. Rippstein is a freelance writer and a certified poetry therapist. She has led poetry and writing workshops throughout the Westchester area. Karen will lead participants through activities using famous poems, color and images to help them create their own works. She will also discuss poetry forms, as well as reading poetry for presentation. Sign-up with Pat Humphreys, 232-3508, to particpate in this stimulating workshop. Have Poem - Will Read is an open mic poetry reading experience for adults and young adults. It takes place on Saturday, April 21st, at 2 p.m. and everyone is invited to come and listen to some wonderful creative writing. Participants will read their favorite poem to an appreciative audience. The audience will vote to decide who made the best presentation. Readers please sign-up with Pat Humphreys, 232-3508.
