The Katonah Village Library has its Annual Book Sale in October (see below), an outdoor book sale in May 2010 (see calendar) and book sale tables in the library year-round. The annual book sale is a major fund-raising event for the library. We are grateful to both donators and buyers for making it possible.

If you wish to make a donation, the library accepts donations starting on April 1, 2009. Please review the Book Donation Policy below for information before bringing your donation.

Book Donation Policy

The Katonah Village Library accepts book donations from April 1st, 2009 until the end of August. Donations may be brought to the Children's Room on the lower level during the library hours.

Monday - 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday - 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Saturday - 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (1 pm. to 5 p.m. in Summer)

Sunday - 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. (closed in Summer)

We welcome hardcover and paperback books in good condition. We also accept audio cassettes, music CDs, videocassettes and DVDs. Items may be used to augment the library collection, or they may be sold to benefit the library. Once donated, books and other items become the property of the library.

The library cannot accept: computer manuals, textbooks (college, high school, etc.), magazines, LP records, encyclopedias, Reader's Digest Condensed books, or books that have been wet or were stored in basements or garages (no mildew, dirt or spiders). We cannot accept travel books or financial books more than two years old.

Please examine the books you want to donate. It is difficult to throw books away, but some volumes, because of condition or subject matter, are of no value. Please discard books with your refuse carrier rather than forcing the library to pay for their removal.

The library will provide a letter acknowledging receipt of donated items. Determination of quantity and value are the responsibility of the donor alone. If you wish to donate more than a couple of boxes or bags of books, please call first - 914-232-3508.
