SUMMER READING GAME  (June 28 – Aug. 13) Ahoy readers!  Set sail for The Katonah Village Library and Make a Splash – Read!  Read for 20 minutes per day and keep track of what you read. Come to the library once each week to fill in your reading log and to play the reading game: Mystery Island. Lost in a great book you find yourself stranded on Mystery Island.” Your task is to complete six challenges to acquire six pieces of a map. Put them together to find your way home and win a prize.

BOOKS AHOY! Ages 7, 8, 9  Tues. 4:00 PM   July 6 -  Aug. 3 (5 weeks)ages 5 & 6    Wed. 4:00 PM   July 7-   Aug. 4 (5 weeks)   Stories and crafts about the beach, fish, pirates, and more! Registration required.

FAMILY READ TOGETHER CLUB- Pre-readers and their parents  read together for 15 minutes each day and come in once per week to receive a sticker. Fill in the whole chart and receive a prize at the end of six weeks.

SPECIAL EVENTS

THE WATER OF LIFE - Live Musical Stories

The Water of Life is a wellspring of musical stories, a lively participation-peppered performance of World Folktales and Music. The Storycrafters are award winning, internationally renowned, tandem storytellers. Publisher's Weekly describes them as "top-notch family entertainment." Monday, August 2nd,at 7 p.m.  Free tickets will be available in the Children's Room beginning June 19th.

LEARN TO PLAY CHESS   for ages 7 – 10 years

John Gallagher returns to teach the basic rules and strategies of chess. All levels of experience welcome. Lots of practice games. Mondays 6:30 – 7:30PM  Starting July 12 – Aug. 2 (4 weeks). Registration Required.

BOOK, SNACK & CHAT  for ages  10-12 years.

Join Mrs. Ingrassia to chat about a selected book and have a cold treat. Monday July 12th and Monday August 9th from 4 – 4:45pm.  Registration required.  Stop in and pick up a copy of The Young Man and the Sea to read before the first meeting.

POETRY WRITING WORKSHOP  for ages 7 – 10 years

Local author and writing teacher, Kim Kovach, will read and share fun Haikus and Shape Poems with water themes. Learn to create your own Shape Poems for an original summer masterpiece!  Thursday, July 22nd  4-5PM. Registration required.

SUMMER PRE-SCHOOL STORY TIMES

SPLISH SPLASH BOOK  BASH   Ages 4, 5 & 6- Thurs. 4 to 4:45  July 8- Aug. 5  Enjoy summer stories, games and activities with high school reading  buddies.  Registration required.

BABY LAP TIME: non-walking babies and caregiver. Mondays 11AM  July 12 - Aug. 16.  Drop in.

MOTHER GOOSE: Children 12 – 30 months and caregiver. Fridays 10:30AM.  July 9- Aug. 20.  Drop in.

TODDLER TIME: Children ages 2 ½ - 3 ½ and caregiver. Thirty minute program of stories, crafts, and nursery rhymes. Wednesdays at 10:30AM  July 7 – Aug. 11.  Registration is required.
