KATONAH
VILLAGE LIBRARY PRESENTS KATONAH --- The Katonah Village Library will sponsor its third annual free summer concert on Saturday, July 28 on the upper field of The Harvey School, 260 Jay Street, Katonah, New York. Beginning at 4:30 p.m., concert guests will be invited to picnic among the rolling meadows, wooded groves and peaceful rural surroundings of the Harvey School campus and then, at 5:00, they will enjoy some of the most innovative and exciting musical performers that this area has to offer: The Clancy Tradition; Sloan Wainwright; and The Disappointments. While admission to the concert is free of charge, donations benefiting the Katonah Village Library will be both welcomed and accepted. The Clancy Traditions performances span a wide repertoire of Irish folk music. The group includes Eugene Clancy on guitar and vocals, his daughter Rosemary on fiddle and mandolin, son John on bass, Patrick on piano and accordion, Pat's daughter Liadain singing vocals and Michael Melanophy on button accordion. World-renowned Irish step dancers Ben, Will and Anna Walant, who are also Harvey School students, will also perform to The Clancy Traditions music. Sloan Wainwright is an outstanding and highly original singer and performer best known for her rich contralto voice, intensely personal lyrics, and her innovative approach to song. Her musical style melds the best of pop, folk, jazz, and blues to create a soulful hybrid. The Disappointments are an alternative rock band influenced by a diverse group of rock musicians. They have performed recently at the Katonah Museum of Art and Moon Rocks in Bedford Hills, and they include Katonah resident and film editor Andy Keir (bass guitar), Liam Melanophy (lead guitar), Vincent Franze (lead vocals), his brother Tom Franze (guitar and vocals), and Mr. Keirs friend, the actor/director Campbell Scott (drums and vocals). Concert guests are welcome to bring their own picnic food and supplies, and refreshments will also be available from an A La Mode ice cream truck. Raffle tickets will be sold for prizes awarded at the concert. For more information, call 232-3508.
